OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 pro, two models of the same 7 series were released on different dates. OnePlus 7 pro entered the market on May 16, 2019 in India; while OnePlus 7 was later unveiled on June 1, 2019. Both the phones are available in different variants and colours.

There has been a huge price difference observed between the two models. The brand has maintained its position in the lower-end of premium smartphones with OnePlus 7 and has moved on to compete with the high-end smartphones with its OnePlus 7 pro. While OnePlus 7 starts from INR 32,999, the high-end OnePlus 7 pro starts at an alarming price of INR 48,999.

The primary difference observed between the two flagship killer smartphones is the display. Both the phones offer OLED display but OnePlus 7 pro offers 6.67 inch, curved, 3120×1440, 90Hz, HDR 10+ and OnePlus 7 offers 6.4-inch, flat, 2340 x 1080, 60Hz.

OnePlus 7 pro gets a big thumbs up for its Quad HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. These features make OnePlus 7 pro stand out among the high-end smartphones including Samsung Galaxy S10, iPhone XS and Huawei P30 Pro. The phone also offers HDR10+ support which lacks in OnePlus 7.

Another spotable difference between the two handsets is the camera. OnePlus debuts triple camera with OnePlus 7 pro. OnePlus 7 pro offers triple rear camera with 48MP main sensor, 16MP ultra wide sensor and 8MP telephoto lens. For its front camera, OnePlus 7 pro chooses a pop-up 16MP.

OnePlus 7 uses the standard drop notch housing 16MP front camera. The back panels consists of dual camera 48MP main sensor coupled with 5MP depth sensor.

Both of the phones offer features like UltraShot, Nightscape, Studio Lighting, Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, HDR, AI Scene Detection, RAW Image.Yet, on the basis of our experience, OnePlus 7 pro offers the best camera experience in the town as of now. Camera quality of OnePlus 7 is sub-par and we would not recommend the phone, if you are a camera freak.

OnePlus 7 pro outraces OnePlus 7 with its battery. OnePlus 7 pro packs 4000mAh of battery while OnePlus 7 packs 3700mAh battery. The former also comes with a 30W Warp charger. But both the phones disappoint us with their inability for wireless charging.

Both of the phones follow the standard OnePlus design with the lower aluminium frame housing the bottom-firing speaker and USB Type C port. The top right side of the aluminium frame holds power button and alert slider while the top left side holds volume buttons. OnePlus has opted for drop notch for the OnePlus 7 and a pop-up camper for the OnePlus 7 pro. Apart from these, the high-end smartphone OnePlus 7 pro is bigger and heavier than OnePlus 7. In fact, OnePlus 7 pro is one of the heaviest phones in the market.

Both the smartphones are powered by 2.84 GHz Qualcomm Octacore Snapdragon 855 SoC. The storage used by the brand is UFS 3.0 unlike the usual UFS 2.1 that most smartphones use. With these high-end hardware specifications, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 pro can be your ultimate partner if you are a gaming addict. On the software front, the handset comes with Android 9 Pie with Oxygen OS 9.5. OxygenOS shows some add on features to the previous gaming mode feature. OnePlus 7 pro featured an additional Fnatic mode which is now included in OnePlus 7 too. OnePlus has even gone farther to include a feature named Zen Mode. The feature is designed to disable all the functions on your phone. Once enabled, you can not switch if off for the next 20 minutes. Throughout the time that the feature is enabled, you can just receive or make emergency calls and access camera.

Both of the phones boast an in-display fingerprint sensor which is noticeably faster than the one in OnePlus 6T. They also embody face recognition unlock feature, whose working efficiency depends upon the light. In addition, the phones also sport Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass and Gyroscope. On the network and connectivity front, the phone holds 2 SIM card slots supporting Nano sized SIM cards. The phones have WiFi 802.11, a/ac/b/g/n/n 5GHz, MIMO along with v5.0 bluetooth, A-GPS, Glonass and VoLTE.

OnePlus has been setting benchmarks since the launch of OnePlus 1. The brand has not been disappointing this time too. With all the additional features that OnePlus 7 pro embodies, it certainly offers a great competition. Majorly, the camera and display specifications of OnePlus 7 pro makes it 2 scales higher than OnePlus 7. Yet, with the same specifications on hardware and software front, we think, the price hike is not worth it. If you are looking for a powerful, in-budget smartphone, OnePlus 7 is definitely the one you should go for, but if you are looking for a smartphone with all the latest and greatest features, OnePlus 7 pro will be your happy handset.
